Server Density allows you to manage your cloud instances across multiple providers and regions in a single system. Once you enter your cloud credentials then instances will be automatically imported and the real time status shown in the UI.
Provisioning from within Server Density
If you want to start monitoring automatically and be able to launch and control your instances from within Server Density, you need to use our Puppet or Chef modules to automatically install the agent.
When you launch a new instance from the Server Density UI we will use your cloud platform's API to drop the agent key somewhere that Puppet or Chef can access it. For AWS we drop it in user-data and for Rackspace we inject a file into /etc/sd-agent-key on the instance.
So long as you have the Puppet or Chef modules set up then everything will happen automatically.
