Maximum Payload Size

Whilst Server Density supports unlimited metrics for each device on your account there is a payload size limit in place to ensure that we're able to process all payloads in a timely manner.

Current payload size limit

2MB

413 Errors

If you exceed this payload size you will most likely see an error in your agent log files similar to the following:

ERROR | sd.forwarder | forwarder(sdagent.py:285) | Response: HTTPResponse(_body=None,buffer=<_io.BytesIO object at 0x7f61c744e950>,code=413,effective_url='https://account.agent.serverdensity.io/intake/?agent_key=$AGENT_KEY',error=HTTPError('HTTP 413: Request Entity Too Large',),headers={'Date': 'Fri, 14 Dec 2018 03:13:38 GMT', 'Content-Length': '168', 'Content-Type': 'application/json; charset=UTF-8', 'Connection': 'keep-alive', 'Server': 'nginx/1.15.3'},reason='Request Entity Too Large',request=,request_time=1.458406925201416,time_info={})

This 413 error indicates that your payload is too large to be processed.

This is most commonly caused by large process lists or lots of disks being monitored. You may be able to determine this by inspecting the output from ps aux or by executing sudo -u sd-agent /usr/share/python/sd-agent/agent.py check disk

If you're unable to determine the cause and resolve this issue by yourself please get in touch with us via hello@serverdensity.com and we will happily assist further.
